(1) Initial Consultation
I will visit your garden so that we can discuss your specific design requirements. We will cover how the garden space will be used, who will use it, desirable features, preferred garden styles and colour palettes.
(2) Design Brief
I will draw up a Design Brief based on the points discussed during the Initial Consultation. This will identify features to be retained or removed and new features to be added. Once you have signed off on the Design Brief I can begin the design process.
(3) Site Survey
I will undertake a site visit to accurately measure the site and assess site conditions that will influence the choice of planting. I will produce Site Survey Plans that record: site dimensions, existing plants, soil type, aspect and environmental factors.
(4) Ideas/Mood Board
I will carry out research into plants and materials suitable for use in the design. A range of ideas will be presented in the form of sketches/mood boards based on the Design Brief. I will consult with the Client to decide which idea will be developed.
(5a) Draft Garden Plan
A Draft Plan will be drawn up showing the layout of the garden. This will give a rough idea of materials and show the areas of hard and soft landscaping. Once the client has approved the draft I will proceed with the final plan.
(5b) Draft Planting Plan
A Draft Planting Plan will be drawn up showing the plants used and their layout. This will give a rough idea of the plants and planting style. Once the client has approved the draft I will proceed with the final plan.
(6a) Final Presentation Garden Design Plan
A final plan will be completed which shows the layout of the garden to scale and identify the features and the materials needed to construct it. Estimated costings for furnishings and landscaping materials will be drawn up. 3D concept artwork may also be created to present the design.
(6b) Final Presentation Planting Plan
A final plan will be completed which shows the layout of the plants and the numbers required. An elevation drawing, plant pictures and seasonal interest chart may also be created to present the design.
